Enjoy a relaxing vacation in our comfortable lake home. Beautiful views of Lake Superior from the great room, the master bedroom and the full length deck. Sunsets, stars, northern lights, freighters, birds and the lake in its many moods are yours to enjoy. Take a walk on the beach, go rock-hounding, skip stones and swim on our beach.

Use the cottage as your base to explore the Copper Country. Beautiful beaches, breathtaking views, mine tours, lighthouse tours, fishing, mountain biking, hiking, waterfall viewing, sea kayaking, museums, shopping and dining are among the many pleasures of Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula.

Horizon Point Cottage has all the comforts of home with three bedrooms (king-size bed in the master, two twin beds in the other main floor bedroom, twin and full size bed in the lower level bedroom); two full bathrooms; fully equipped kitchen with microwave, coffee maker and dishwasher. The full length deck has a picnic table, gas grill and patio furniture for lounging. The great room is has comfortable furniture situated around a gas fireplace. There is a TV with a DVD/VCR and a library of kids and grown-up movies. There is a radio with CD and Bluetooth capabilities and a weather radio. We have a large collection of puzzles and games. There is no Wi-Fi because we come to the Lake to get away from our day to day worries.

Sheets and towels are provided. We keep a supply of kitchen staples to make packing easier for you; foil, basic spices, condiments plus sugar and flour and coffee.

So, pack your clothes and bring your food and let the cares of the world get washed away with the sound of the waves and the freshest air imaginable.

Unique Features

Our newer Lake Superior vacation home is within minutes of everything that Keweenaw, MI has to offer. You can explore a different beach each day! One-of-a-kind scenic drives include, The Covered Drive, M-26, Sand Dune Drive. Since you’re out exploring, ask Siri to guide you to a few of the famous waterfalls in the UP: Eagle River Falls, Jacob’s Falls, Montreal Falls, Hungarian Falls. Pick any reason, any season and come on UP.

Things To Do

You never know what you’re going to see float by on Lake Superior: Freighters, fishing boats, sailboats, kayaks and canoes. Listen for distinct sounds that are unique to this area like woodpeckers and loons while your group enjoys an evening campfire near the beach in front of the cottage. All ages with love this beach and sandy swimming.

Our cottage is filled with “relaxation” extras like a video library, books, puzzles, ceiling fans, plus lots of peace and quiet. Just around the corner are breathtaking hiking and biking trails, and if we are open during winter there’s Mont Ripley Ski Area, Voodoo Mountain, and Mount Bohemia. Keweenaw has 233 miles of snowmobile trails too! If your feeling brave, you can even explore old ghost towns like the Copper Falls mine.

Like museums? Your going to love the numerous Keweenaw peninsula museums that feature history, mining, immigration, shipping, minerals. We recommend a Laurium Manor Mansion tour. In fact, since you book directly with us, we can help you identify must-see’s that appeals to your family while visiting the northernmost part of Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

Reviews

August 19, 2018 Thank you for sharing Horizon Point Cottage with us. WE had a relaxing week wandering around the Keweenaw. Had a couple rainy days but also some beautiful sunny days. Hiked Bare Bluff & Montreal Falls, Estevant Pines, Horseshoe Bay Beech, Hunters Point and Gratiot Lake. Even with clouds the sunsets were beautiful. Had a young eagle join us on his perch wile we grilled burgers. This home was one of the best for amenities we've had when renting vacation homes. L&C P and T&J F, Ionia MI.
The Keweenaw peninsula is gorgeous; Brockway Mountain Drive is not to be missed; Houghton has a wonderful Mineral Museum and is an attractive city. There are lovely homes and mansions left over from the mining and lumbering days. The best meal we had was at Fitzgerald's in Eagle River, where the dining room is right on Lake Superior. All in all we had a wonderful trip and were happy to return to this house. Highly recommend it! Margo C
June 2018 Thanks for sharing your beautiful cottage with us! We really enjoyed our stay! Some of our favorite activities here were: playing games, collecting rocks, skipping rocks, having a fire on the beach, playing in the water, playing catch on the beach, watching movies and eating and resting on the deck. Around the area, we visited: The Jam Pot, Fort Wilkins, Brockway Mt., numerous waterfalls, hiking & sand dunes, Quincy Mine and shops. I am from the UP and enjoy bringing my family to visit. KF, Waupun, WI
July 28,2018 What a week! Great weather (mid 70's) w/a couple grey days in between. The house was amazing and allowed us all the relaxation we were seeking. Hours spent on the beach searching for the "perfect" stones along with peaceful sits along the shoreline listening to the waves meet the shoreline. Trips to Copper Harbor, visiting shops, state parks, overlooks and mines. All in all a Great Time was had by all. Thank you so much for allowing us the opportunity to experience your small slice of the Northern Michigan we all hold so close to our hearts. KF
May 31, 2018 Location, Location, Location! Everyone in the world needs to visit the UP. Beautiful! We caught a splake on Lake Fanny Hooe, Hubby took a dip in Lake Superior on an 80F day. Weather has been crazy - swings from 42 - 81 depending on where you are. Dinner at Fitzgerald's is a must. Taking back way too many beautiful rocks. What eye candy! Your home/cottage is beautiful, thank you for sharing. C&J D Brighton MI
May 2014 The home has everything you need, including a second toilet in the basement. The kitchen was well equipped and the beds comfortable. As it was early October and chilly, the gas fireplace in the living room was warm and cheerful. The location was great split between Copper Harbor and Tech. We spent a fair amount of time in each location and as I remember it, they are each about a 20 minute drive. The owners were very responsive to calls and emails, and without question I will stay here again if I can. Brian I

About the Owner/Manager

We are Jerry and Nancy Rabe. (Jerry is from Lower Michigan, Nancy is from Ironwood, Michigan). We love the Keweenaw area and think it will capture your heart too! In 2006, our dream of having a place on Lake Superior became a reality. The location and beautiful setting will provide vacation memories for a lifetime. One of our favorite things to do is sit on the beach and watch the sunset - a close second is falling asleep to the sound of the waves. We’ll share our secret spots too. We trust our guests with our dream home, and ask that they treat it gently, as if it were their own.
