One of Sunset Shores Lake House’s best features is its expansive lawn. Guests will find a circle of inlaid stone between the attached deck and the water’s edge with a permanent bonfire pit equipped with a cooking grate. This wide circle of firelight is furnished with enough yard chairs for the entire group to gather around the flames and roast marshmallows for s’mores.
Further out from the house, guests can enjoy a private sandy swimming area with shallow wading right around knee level out 20 to 30 feet — perfect for letting the kids splash around in the lake. The home is also equipped with a private boat dock for guests to moor their vessels or cast a line off the end, as well as a traditional canoe, allowing freedom to explore the lengths of Upper Scott Lake. Single-person kayaks are also available for rental by the day or the week, for a nominal daily fee with a reservation.

My family rents a house every summer for a family vacation. Reviewed 16 July 2023 - We have done this for years, always trying to find the place we will come back to each year. Sunset Shores (Scott Lakes Properties) now has us as a repeat customer! The seven-bedroom, four-bathroom spacious ranch has met all our needs. The house is clean and unique because it is a very long house. Even though it is all on one floor, the people on each end of the house don't hear each other. The kitchen is great and there is plenty of space for our family of 12. There is a lovely porch with an awning that comes in handy on hot sunny days. The kids love the lake because it is shallow and clean! There is a nice little sandy beach for them to play, as well as a canoe that we all enjoyed using. The kids also fished from the pier and actually caught some fish!
As the grandmother with a bad knee, I loved that there were no steps in the house and a flat walk down to the water. There is a fire pit to use if desired.
We love the location because it's only about three hours from our homes in the Detroit area. We also love the close proximity to Saugatuck and South Haven. We recommend the two wineries nearby, Modales Winery and The Michigan Wine Company. The kids went to an animal critter farm one day that they thoroughly enjoyed as well.
I highly recommend the Sunset Shore house we stayed in and hope to have the opportunity to go again and again!
Such a beautiful experience! Reviewed 3 May 2018. My family had such a wonderful time celebrating my mom's 50th birthday at the Sunset Shores Lake House! Great for large groups and this house has everything you need — we really only needed to bring the food. We got to fish, sit by the fire pit, and hang out in the living room. The rooms were comfy and the house itself was really cozy. We will definitely be back!!
Great Place for a big group but a few things to know before you go! Reviewed 11 Oct 2017. We had a group of 12 friends stay at this house in Pullman Michigan, and it was a great space for that many people! We loved how there were 2 larger gathering areas, and we also loved how each of the bedrooms were roughly the same size. A few things to know before you stay here: the house is in the country and had many fruit flies lurking inside, so I recommend bringing bug spray and closed containers to keep food in while indoors. Second, we were only given one roll of paper towel for the entire weekend for 12 people to use to clean AND for napkins, and each bathroom only had one roll of TP in it, so I recommend bringing extra napkins/paper towel and TP to use during your stay. We had to run out on Saturday morning to buy more of these supplies.
Perfect for a large group! Reviewed 22 Aug 2017. We really enjoyed our week at Sunset Shores! We had 4 families with 5 small children and each family was able to have their own bedroom/bathroom. The yard was big enough for many games. The beach area was perfect since the water was shallow and the sand was clean. The guys in our group went golfing a couple of times, but the rest of us didn't leave, we just enjoyed the peace and quiet. We loved the long, large table for our group meals. The afternoon sun was too hot to enjoy eating at the outdoor tables since there were no umbrellas or shade. Overall, it was an excellent place for us!!
Had another great week in Pullman! Reviewed 14 Aug 2017. Last year we stayed at the Sunset Beach location and were very pleased. This year we decided to rent the larger Sunset Shores Lake House. We were impressed as soon as we walked in. Plenty of bathrooms and bedrooms with an added bonus room. This is a great place for large or multiple families. The only downside to this house was there was very little shade and no patio umbrella. It was very warm to sit outside with no covering or umbrellas on the deck. Great kitchen was fully stocked, with lots of seating. Screened porch with a lake view was also added bonus. Hope to book again next year.
Wonderful Home Away from Home!! Reviewed 1 Aug 2017. This darling Sunset Shores Lake House couldn't be more charming! This house is perfect for a dual family reunion -— so many bedrooms, bathrooms and communal spaces for dining and fun! The cleanliness of this house is impeccable which is a major bonus! The green space and sandy water access are ideal for children's play. We had a fabulous week!
Great House for Entire Family! Reviewed 5 Jun 2017. This beach house was very spacious with plenty of bathrooms that sleeps up to 16. The view from back of house to the lake is beautiful! Being located between South Haven and Saugatuck makes it very convenient short ride either way. The local stores came in handy since they are less than 2 miles away. If you are a looking for a fun and relaxing place, this is the perfect place! We are looking forward to coming back next year! Also, Elizabeth and Jill are awesome and are very helpful!
Great getaway for adult couples. Reviewed 7 May 2017. All in all, the Sunset Shores Lake House was excellent for our group of 6 couples. We were looking for a getaway without children and found this house which had 7 bedrooms to accommodate us. The bedrooms were all the same size which made it nice to not have to pick straws, and the house was done up very nicely! Tile floors, comfy furniture, a gorgeous long dining table perfect for all group meals and games! The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to cook meals and serve everyone. And having 4 bathrooms for 12 adults was excellent! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because it really wasn't near anything! We had to drive at least 15 minutes to Fennville for Salt of the Earth dinner (DELICIOUS!) and a winery tasting at Fenn Valley Winery (would highly recommend). Also, it was a rainy weekend when we went so we couldn't enjoy the lake or any water sports on the lake. We would rent again if we had a need to go up to this area in the future!
Perfect home for large group/family. Reviewed on 05 Dec 2016. Our family rented this house for the week of Thanksgiving. We found the house was very clean and provided everything we needed. The beds were very comfortable. The lake view was spectacular from the deck and our children had plenty of room to play out back. We would not hesitate to return.
