Sunset Beach House is a ranch-style home on the eastern shore of Upper Scott Lake that offers year-round, family-friendly getaways just a short trip from Chicago or Detroit. It is convenient, spacious, and well-equipped to meet all your needs. We’re now excited to offer our guests access to high-speed fiber-optic internet service, so you can stream your favorite shows, stay in touch with family, or work remotely, all while enjoying fast, reliable connectivity throughout your stay.
The main social space features floor-to-ceiling windows providing fantastic lake views, plus tons of natural light pouring into the open-concept Great Room. The sunny, spacious, fully-equipped kitchen serves as the heart of the home. Find a mini fridge for extra drink storage, which those large-group getaways seem to require. The living room is laid out with plush leather seating and a 55” flat screen TV, while the dining room holds an extra-large table that seats 12, plus a smaller table that seats four.
With an inviting screened porch equipped with lounge seating and an open lakeside deck equipped with dining tables, guests can enjoy the lovely Michigan weather or beautiful lake views from a variety of vantage points. Lounge on the lakefront beach, play on the sprawling lawn, take the canoe out on the lake, or roast s’mores by the fire pit.
Sleeping arrangements: Six private bedrooms with nine total beds: a queen-sized bed in two bedrooms, a king-sized bed in two bedrooms, a full-sized bed in one bedroom, and two twin-sized bunk bed sets in the final bedroom.

Sunset Beach House was the model home for all our lakefront homes, and is now just one of our 22 listings. This home enjoys private lakefront access to a sandy-bottomed swimming area on the lakeshore, which provides an excellent place for canoeing, kayaking, swimming, and fishing. There is a calm, shallow area for wading and letting the kids splash around, where the water only comes to around knee-level for 20-30 feet out from the shoreline.
A private boat dock allows our guests to store their vessels or cast a line from the end. The home’s level lawn is interrupted only by a permanent fire pit ready for all your evening fireside chats and preparing lots of s'mores. The lakeside deck includes a lovely outdoor dining area, perfect for grilling out and sharing all those special summer meals. A canoe is provided for guests and is an excellent way to explore Upper Scott Lake; kayaks are also available for daily or weekly rental for a nominal fee, but only by reservation.
There are very few homes surrounding 99-acre spring-fed Upper Scott Lake, which gives the area an atmosphere of peace and ensures each neighbor has room to spread out and relax. A small, inland lake in Lee Township, MI, it is a recreation spot for all four seasons: boating, swimming, and picnicking in summer; vibrant fall colors; skiing, sledding, and skating in winter; and a variety of wildflowers when the land awakens in spring.
Sunset Beach House is conveniently located just 15 minutes by car from Crane’s Orchards and Dutch Farms, and both are unforgettable countryside experiences where visitors can participate in fruit picking or indulge in their unbeatable fresh-made pastries. Between the house and the farms, guests might find themselves pleasantly waylaid at the Fenn Valley Winery, seduced into a tour and tasting. Other area attractions include an impressive collection of antique shops in the nearby towns of South Haven, Allegan, Douglas, and Saugatuck. In the summer, guests can spend an adventurous day exploring the Saugatuck dunes in a rented buggy or soaking up the sun at South Haven’s USA TODAY 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards 2026 "Michigan's Best Beach," South Beach. There are also year-round Michigan experiences nearby, found in some of the region’s many wonderful art galleries.

Perfect family vacation home. Reviewed 16 Aug 2017. This home had everything you could possibly want for your vacation. It was as if the owners spent a week there and purchased any and everything they needed or wanted for their comfort. We stayed with our two married children and three grandchildren. Everyone had their own room. The kitchen was beautiful, well-stocked, and had excellent appliances. The family rooms were roomy, light, and perfect for us. The little ones loved the small beach with shallow water. When we first arrived, I thought the price was a little high for the location (8 miles off the highway), but we all really enjoyed ourselves and the surrounding communities of Holland, Saugatuck, and South Haven.
A Memorial Day Weekend for the Books. Reviewed 31 May 2017. This house is the best for large groups! We loved the dock, the canoe, the fishing, the fire pit... It was truly the best way to start the summer. We will definitely be renting this home out again next year. What a lovely location on a breathtaking lake with such amazing people.

The home is beautifully decorated and impeccably clean! Everything we needed was provided and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Working with the owner was seamless; she answered all of our emails immediately and the property management person was equally as attentive when we encountered issues with the dishwasher. Healing! Reviewed 26 Dec 2016. I rented this property by myself — yes, by myself to get away after experiencing some emotional trauma early this year. The staff was amazingly supportive of my wishes and encouraging. This place was everything that was advertised and much more. Everything was provided. So much space. I had a question while I was there, and the housekeeper responded right away. It could have been because I was there for Christmas, but it was amazingly quiet and peaceful. Comfortable. The view of the (frozen) lake was divine. The home was beautiful and charming. I spent a lot of time in Pullman as a kid, and the town has a certain aura that hasn't changed, and Sunset Beach captured that feel for me precisely. My only issue was that the Wi-Fi didn't work on my devices, but it wasn't a big deal for me, so I didn't bother anyone about it. But that is something that may need fine tuning. Other than that, everything was amazing. I can't say when, but I will definitely try and rent again. Thanks so much for providing me the space I needed to assist in the healing process.
Beautiful lake views. Reviewed 1 Nov 2016. The house was very beautiful and situated on a lovely lake. We rented it for a long "girls' weekend" and were very pleased with house. The decor was a great blend of old and new. It is located close to several charming towns where there are lots of things to do. We will most likely plan to rent it again next year!

Family Vacation. Reviewed 21 July 2016. Our family enjoyed the spacious house with the lake view. We were able to prepare food in the fully stocked kitchen. We all enjoyed the lake with the kayaking, fishing, and swimming. The kids went swimming every chance they could get. The deck was nice for relaxing, grilling, and eating. Also, the screened in porch was great for reading and quiet times. This is our second time vacationing at this house. Once in the winter and this time in July. We had 11 in our group and we all had plenty of room. Great place to spend with children and grandchildren.

60th Anniversary Celebration/Family Reunion. Reviewed on 27 Jun 2016. We planned our anniversary celebration to include our 4 children their spouses and children. Everyone loved the lake view as soon as you walked into the house. We enjoyed sitting around the campfire every night and reminiscing. The canoe was well used by son and grandchildren. The house was just like pictures on line, and we fully enjoyed the large kitchen and dining area. All 12 of us could sit around the table and eat together. If the occasion arises, I would not hesitate to rent this beautiful house again. Had lots to do, visiting South Haven and Holland to visit the lighthouses and shops, as well as taking the winery tour and the orchard to get fresh cherries.
