Our beautiful log home is affectionately known as the Wildwood Lake Dutton Ranch by our friends and family. Although it is not technically a “ranch”, it is the perfect place to relax and reconnect with those you love while exploring everything Northern Michigan has to offer. We are located on Wildwood Lake which is a quiet all sports lake with great bass and pike fishing right off our private dock. Spend all day relaxing on the beautifully landscaped paver patio with steps into the water. Lounge on the furniture or enjoy the rocker while the kids play in the shallow sandy water at the shore. Enjoy the 2 kayaks and canoe or bring your own boat to explore everything the lake has to offer. The calm clear water is perfect for swimming, skiing, wakeboarding, tubing and fishing. When you are done at the lake stroll up the paver pathway to the spacious deck for dinner or to the outdoor firepit for S’mores.

Inside you will find a great room with a nap worthy sectional sofa (or room for the whole gang to sit), a large dining table and a fully equipped kitchen. The only thing you will need to bring for cooking is the food you want to eat. The kitchen is stocked with all major stainless appliances and everything you need from bakeware, pots and pans, toaster, coffee maker as well as plenty of plates, glasses and silverware. The walkout basement has a pool table, large screen TV, dvd player, and a game table that is perfect for board games, cards or puzzles. The TV has an HDMI input available for gaming systems or other electronics.

Sleeping arrangements: Four private bedrooms offer you a retreat when you need some alone time. The large master has a handcrafted barn wood King bed with a Tempur-Pedic mattress. Two bedrooms have Queen beds with handcrafted headboards and ample space for all of your belongings. The fourth bedroom has 2 twin beds with room for a cot or pack and play for the kids. There is also a queen pull out sofa bed on the lower level and a full sized futon in the loft.

Stay with the Dutton’s at our Wildwood Lake cabin in the heart of Northern Michigan. Welcome the dawn on the covered porch or deck with your cup of coffee enjoying the sunrise, loons calling, and an occasional Elk bugle. Enjoy the lake on our paver patio with easy access to the water or from the deck overlooking the lake. Rest and relaxation is your priority from the moment you arrive throughout your stay. Connect with family and/or friends to create memories to last a lifetime.

Things To Do

If you are looking for the “Dutton” experience by enjoying pristine nature with modern amenities (without the work of a functioning ranch) this is the place to stay. If you are channeling your inner cowboy – there is horseback riding nearby. Or you can take some time to explore the Pigeon River Forest in search of Elk, bear, deer or other wildlife via car or ORV on the roads and 2 tracks throughout the forest or hike or mountain bike the high-country pathway. We are also close to the rails to trails pathway if you prefer a more leisurely ride or hike. If fishing is your game the lake is a great pike, small mouth, and pan fishery. If you are a fly angler, we are located within 10 miles of access to 2 wadeable blue ribbon trout streams (Sturgeon and Pigeon) and 20 miles to the Black river (another Blue ribbon trout stream with great Brook trout fishing.) If you have never fly fished and want to give it a shot we can connect you with a guide service to provide you with the gear and explore these waters. (They book fast.)

On the off chance that there is a falling out in your group and you feel the need to take someone to the train station, The Depot in downtown Wolverine is open for business. They have amazing ice cream that will set everything straight. If you don’t feel like cooking (or Gator has the night off) we are close to the Thirsty Sturgeon (Wolverine), Vivios (Indian River), and Christopher’s Café (Indian River - breakfast and lunch).

Other great adventures are rafting or tubing the Sturgeon river. We are close to Mackinaw City, Petoskey, Harbor springs, Gaylord, and Ocqueoc falls.

About the Owner/Manager

Josh and Val Dutton are the owners of this beautiful cabin. Josh helped his parents build the cabin and we hope to retire there someday. Until that happens we are happy to share the home with you for your up north adventures. We love to go fishing on the lake and rivers in the area and just get lost in the woods sometimes. It is truly a place to recharge from the stress of everyday life and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
