What’s not to love at this Leelanau Peninsula vacation rental. We went large with just about everything: Updated with comfortable furnishings; large wooden deck with propane grill and charcoal and seating; large windows offering vistas of the bay and conservancy land and full kitchen and bathroom.
The grassy yard leads you down to the beach where you’ll find a dock with 2 kayaks, 2 paddle boards, and rowboat. Don’t just watch the lake, get out there. Don’t sleep in every morning either, get up early and watch the unique shimmering sunrise over the water.
OMG! Breathtaking views as your family and friends enjoy a day filled with sun, swimming, boating, and beachcombing for those smooth Petoskey stones. It’s so dark at night, you’ll count stars and see the Milky Way galaxy - a great time to be gathered around a beach bonfire in the provided stone fire pit. Maybe you’ll be treated to the Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis: Locals tip: The highest probability is between 10 and 11pm.
Explore the charming village of Omena by foot - the Omena Bay Studio offers a 2 minute walk to several locals-favorite destinations: Knot Just a Bar (enjoy a gourmet dinner outdoors), Leelanau Cellars Wine Tasting, a museum, grocery/liqueur and a gallery.
Northern Leelanau Peninsula is a year round destination. Fall color tours, hiking, biking, trails for cross country skiing, snowshoeing, fat tire biking, and winery tours (20 wineries) are just a few things to look forward to. All ages will love learning at the Grand Traverse Lighthouse Museum - "Leelanau Shipwrecks" exhibit, and the tribal museum at Peshabestown. The famous Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore is a short drive from your northern Michigan vacation home too.
Vibrant Traverse City is just 30 minutes south. We recommend taking the M-22 Scenic Drive (during Autumn if at all possible). While exploring watch for restaurants and bakeries (pub food, Zagut rated delights, and regional specialties with European accents at Martha’s Table)
