Welcome to our Snug Haven Lakeside Resort -- designed for maximum comfort, convenience, relaxation, and 300 feet of sandy beach FUN.
The Lodge is located directly on the main beach and is part of a 4-cottage, family-oriented and pet friendly resort (ideal for multi-family getaways). The Lodge is three-story with a knotty pine interior and large covered deck facing the lake on the main level and a covered patio at ground level. It can sleep up to 4 people in double beds in the loft area, another 2 in the queen-size bedroom on the main floor, and 2 more in the walk-out queen-size bedroom at ground level. Enjoy a variety of unpowered watercraft (kayaks, paddlewheel boats and rowboats), included in your stay. Bring your own watercraft and inflatables too. Once you settle into your home away from home, you might not want to leave.
Lakefront living at the Lodge can’t be beat. You have access to our 70-foot wide floating "C"-shaped dock, which is an excellent spot for fishing. For parents of young children, the C-dock offers security for young swimmers because they are protected on all sides from boat traffic; this area also provides the perfect spot for teaching the little ones to kayak!
Inside the cottage are your home-away-from-home amenities: gas fireplace, convection oven/stove, microwave oven, and full kitchen. There is a full bath on the main floor and another on the lower level. There is a washer and dryer for guest use on the lower level. Snug Haven is surrounded by little towns with unique shops, and dozens of lakes and several streams. "Twenty lakes in twenty minutes" is our motto.
Budd Lake is clean and teeming with a varieties of fish, including musky. Toward evening you can enjoy our beach area fire-pits that are lit nearly every night during the summer (weather permitting). Just make yourself at home while visiting our home.
We make a great base-camp for a wide variety of area activities. We are close to excellent golf courses (Pohlcat, Bucks Run, Riverwood, Tamaracks, Pleasant Hills), and nearby Snow Snake Ski & Golf has a 3000-foot zip line and popular off-roading park, Rocks & Valleys.
Though the deck is the prefect place to prepare dinner, you might want to eat out. Mountain Town Station has steaks and chops served with a variety of home-brewed beers. Ask us about other unique food and drink experiences when you book your stay. This is fruit country, which means wine-tasting! Nearby: Clare County Fair; tubing and canoeing; miniature golf; go-karts; and games of chance at Soaring Eagle Casino. We're two hours from the Great Lakes (the largest inland lakes in the country) in 3 directions!

The owners--Donn, Nancy and Alice--opened Snug Haven in 1995. Since then all of the original cabins have been replaced by new vacation cottages. The name of the resort was changed from Nelson's Resort to Snug Haven. Donn and Nancy are retired academics, and Alice is retired from Dow Chemical. Donn is a semi-retired musician who can be persuaded now and then to bring a guitar down to the fire pit for some campfire sing-a-longs.
Sometimes more IS better. Like more cottages available in one location, especially if you’re planning to vacation with friends and family. Snug Haven Lakeside Resort is the perfect getaway whether you need one cottage or four. We’re located on beautiful all-sports Budd Lake in Harrison Michigan (swimming, boating, and fishing for everything from panfish to sport fish to walleye to muskies). All of our cottages share our 300-foot sandy beach, the 70-foot C-shaped floating dock that can be used for fishing and sunbathing while providing a protected swimming area for youngsters, multiple fire pits, and a variety of unpowered watercraft (kayaks, paddlewheel boats, and fishing boats). Every cottage has a gas grill and at least one picnic table; three have covered decks so you can grill in the rain (if, heaven forbid, it happens to rain while you’re here). And every cottage is fully equipped and ready to move in: beds are made, kitchen is modern and well-stocked with cookware and serving dishes, and the living areas are comfortable. Most of the furniture is Amish-built: rustic, sturdy, and beautiful at the same time. Two cottages have laundry facilities and three have gas fireplaces. On top of all that, we are pet-friendly.
The first thing you will notice is that our cottages are CLEAN and neat. Each one is different so we can accommodate groups of different sizes with different needs. The Nest is ADA-compliant on the main floor and The Hideaway, a one-story ranch, can be accessed from the parking area without climbing stairs.
