The Smith Family Resort is comprised of a picturesque main cottage and three smaller cabins on Mullett Lake, just north of Topinabee, Michigan. This nostalgic, summer-camp style resort offers a quiet setting between the trees with traditional, wood-sides vacation homes, wide decks, plenty of lawn space to run, lounge and play, exclusive shoreline access to the lake and private-access boat docks. Rent one or more cottages to sleep from 6-26 people!
This main cottage is a roomy A-frame home with two bedrooms and two baths. The bedrooms are furnished with two full-sized beds each. The main living space includes a sitting room, dining room and full kitchen equipped with dining ware, cookware and modern appliances. Guests also have access to in-house laundry facilities. The main cottage offers cable TV and wireless internet, as well as a sun deck on the lake-facing side, complete with a marvelous view.
The Smith Family Resort is one of the last of its kind in northern Michigan and has been lovingly maintained to preserve its unique appeal.
Our northern Michigan Main Cottage shares a large dock system with one main walkway leading out to separate boat docks for each rental and three additional mooring buoys. The shoreline is sandy and pleasant for swimming and wading, with a lush grassy lawn leading up to the water. Mullet Lake also serves as a portal to a larger system of inland lakes and rivers, offering 42 linear miles of waterway for exploring. Guests will love the quiet setting, the nature sounds and views, and fishing off the end of the docks.
Smith Family Resort is a beautiful group retreat with many outdoor adventure options available just steps from the front door. These Michigan cabin rentals are located near an access point for the North Central Trail, an extensive nature trail system that branches off for miles in several directions. The trails are open and maintained year-round to use by hikers and bikers, cross-country skiers, and snowmobiles and ATVs.
In the larger Mullet Lake area, visitors will find golf courses, downhill skiing resorts, public hunting land and excellent fishing. The regions many natural water features provide ample space for water sports. Popular activities include kayaking, jet skiing, sailing and parasailing, wind-surfing, water skiing and tubing, and even snorkeling and scuba diving.
Smith Family Resort lodging are just a few minutes’ drive from Indian River and Cheboygan, where tourists will find dining, shopping and other family entertainments and attractions. A 45-minute drive will bring visitors to unique sites such as the Mackinac Bridge and Mackinac Island, historic light houses, Petoskey and Harbor Springs.
Things to Remember: Linens are provided to the Main Cottage only. No fireworks of any kind are permitted on resort grounds. Renters bring sheets, pillow cases, bath towels.

The main cottage rents at a nightly rate of $300 per night with a 3 night minimum stay. The weekly rate is $2100. Add 6% Michigan Use Tax, a $100 cleaning fee, and a refundable damage deposit of $100 to all rentals.
