Experience a truly rustic lifestyle at The Mother Lodge with unique amenities such as a toilet that flushes with buckets filled at the pump in the kitchen, creating an authentic and memorable experience. Warm up by the woodburner, and for extra comfort during chilly nights, we have space heaters available as backup heating options.

Innovative Toilet System: The toilet system, which flushes with buckets filled at the pump in the kitchen and creates a siphon effect, is a distinctive and eco-friendly feature that sets this lodge apart. It adds an element of adventure to the stay.
Woodburner and Space Heaters: The availability of a woodburner and space heaters as backup heating options ensures that guests can stay cozy even during cold nights. This practical and thoughtful amenity enhances the overall comfort and unique appeal of the lodge.
To enhance your experience and accommodate larger groups, we've have two additional cabins and have also partnered with our neighbors, MorningStar Adventures. They offer additional cabins within walking distance, ensuring that everyone can find their own serene spot while staying connected.
Her-See Path: A forest and creek trail leading to the Chartres Labyrinth. Return via the trail along the fence or wind back to the main two-track.
Northstar Trail: Starts between the main house and garage, crosses the creek, and runs across from the Mother Lodge.
Keefer Cabin Trail: Starts just south of Keefer Cabin, crosses the creek, and makes a larger loop.
White Pine Trail Linear State Park: Paved for biking, roller skating, and hiking. Accessed by walking past the campsite area to the west of the fork in the road at the entrance to the property.
As you step out your front door, walk up the driveway toward Kay Blue. At the road, turn right. The spirit wheel will be to your left through the trees. Instructions are inside the box by the spirit wheel.
Chartres Labyrinth: Located at the end of the Her-See Path. The walk takes 20 to 25 minutes. There is a folder at the labyrinth containing instructions and information.
Classical Labyrinth: Located down past the garden and parking area on the left side of the driveway to the North of the sign.

In 2020, I returned to Michigan and serendipitously found myself on this enchanting land. I was told it would be a lot of work, and it has been, but I've never been one to shy away from a challenge.
