The Beach Cottage is a place to relax, re-group and re-connect. To take walks, boat and bike rides, up and down Lakeview Drive, and around town. Stay in and play games, soak in the hot tub, and watch movies together. Or go fishing, swimming, and roast s'mores by the campfire. Perhaps go next door for a beer, bowling, or a fantastic meal at Buddy's. Take a short walk to downtown Lake O for some antique shopping followed by a treat at the ice cream shop. Hang out at the park with huge wooden playground on the way back. Check out live Americana music at Bob's Barn Jam, just one mile away. Boat through a canal to Tupper Lake, a smaller fishing lake nearby, that has even more shoreline and canals to explore.
The Beach itself (just steps away) features a sandy waterfront that gently slopes down to the water. Inside the area contained within the floating docks provides a no-boat swimming experience for all ages. The Beach volleyball court is open to the public for impromptu games (volleyball available for you to use). The Large floating dock has benches for lounging, spots for fishing, and is fun to walk on. Enjoy treats from the Dairy Queen next door at the picnic tables on the Beach.
Just 15 minutes to the north is Ionia State Recreation Area, a huge 4,500 acre playground for outdoor enthusiasts of nearly any persuasion. There's a river and lake; hiking, mountain biking, dog and horse trails; awesome bird watching; wildflowers galore; and come winter, fantastic sledding, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling. The 125 mile long Grand River Valley trail runs right through it. It's like being up north in the UP, without the long road trip. And just five minutes east from there is the city of Ionia, offering chain restaurants and big box stores.
The dock is pulled up in early November and dropped into the water in early April. Exact dates vary from year to year; please inquire regarding more specific projections if they could impact your stay. Watercraft, direct lake access, and the part of the deck overhanging the lake are not available when the dock has been pulled up (during the winter).
All parking is free of charge and steps away from the front door of the Beach Cottage. From April 1 to October 31, parking is allowed 24/7 on the street in front of the house. From November 1 to March 30, overnight parking is available in a public lot directly across the street, shared by the Beach, and is about a 30 second walk from the front door.
Things to remember: All parking is free and steps away. Summer: on street parking. Winter: public lot next door (your host will help you out here). Quiet hours 10pm-7am.

We went for just one night away from the world, this was a wonderful place to do that! The restaurant was not even 50 yards away but it was great food. And honestly couldn't tell it was that close. There was a beautiful view from inside the cottage to the lake. The color choice was interesting for this cottage but made it easy to find. Cottage was kept clean and is just very cute on the inside. Photos were accurate - nice big open living space, great views of the lake. Robert P
The cottage was beautiful inside. From the different variety of lures that are embedded into the coat rack to the old fashion fireplace. This place was home away from home for us. Jason was super responsive with every question I had. If we had trash he was there 10 minutes later picking it up for us to be thrown away. He made the stay more enjoyable for us with doing everything and anything he could. If I could give him a higher rating I would because he deserves it. The neighbors there are super friendly and will also answer any questions you have. We will be coming back next year. Brandon D
We had a wonderful time at the Lake Odessa Beach Cottage! It was so relaxing - we really enjoyed the deck, the full lake views, the fire pit, the true "cabin" feel of the interior also added to the ambiance feeling of being "up north" but convenient to everything. The cabin was very clean, with tons of amenities and stocked with anything we needed. Jason was a dream to work with and everything went very smoothly. sheila t
We (your hosts, Jason and Carmen) live just down the street. If you need anything, just give us a call. We invite you to experience our super service and top to bottom clean Beach Cottage.
I had always loved that week in Lake Odessa as a child. That time during the summer that we would look forward to for months. We would plan for weeks, and pack for days. It was less than a half an hour drive to Lake O, but it felt like another world to me there. Time slowed down, and everyone seemed to be all about summer fun. My special request every year was to be there when the fair was in town. We could ride our bikes from The Cottage to the fairgrounds, and stop by the gas station on the way for candy and soda.
A trip to the ice cream shop, a quick stop downtown at the dime store, and swimming in the lake were all fun, but the fishing... the fishing was the best part! It seemed like you could use live bait or lures, go to most any part of the lake, and always have a new experience.
And then the evening campfire with stories about the day, plans for the next, and flaming marshmallows on sticks. The smell of bug spray and suntan lotion, and then the kids up to the loft and the parents downstairs to sleep with the windows open and the sound of the crickets, while seeing flashing lightning bugs out the window as you drifted off to sleep.
And Lake Odessa today is pretty much the same experience. Only what I didn't know as a child, is that spring, winter, and fall offer awesome fun as well! Whether it be pickle ball, bicycling, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, walking, or skiing, there are numerous options for enjoying the outdoors year round. And when venturing out is just not your thing, taking a dip in the lakeside hot tub, or stepping next door for a dinner and perhaps bowling offer entertainment without venturing too far.
