The Au Sable River is accessible from the neighboring town of Oscoda, as well as snowmobiling and ATV trails. Plan a day trip to soak up some local history at the Historic Lumberman’s Monument, the Great Lakes Maritime Museum, or on a historic lighthouse tour at Tawas Point.

Other great adventure opportunities in the area include kite boarding or charter fishing with Calypso Charters. The entire region is full of natural scenery and great views — spend some time hiking the coasts, forests and ridges for some fresh air and breathtaking photos.

You won’t want to miss the new craft brewery that is opening this spring in Harrisville, roughly 10 miles away from Lake Huron Beachfront Cottage. Best of all, this rental property offers direct access to some of the best sugar sand beach anywhere on Lake Huron.

Reviews

We had an excellent time here! Tim was a great host, the cabin was very cozy and had a beautiful view of the lake. Hot tub worked perfectly. Having firewood included was appreciated as well. — Michelle H., March 2019
Charming little getaway. Tim couldn’t have been nicer and more accommodating. Big cushy chairs were great to sit and enjoy morning coffee and look out to a beautiful view of Lake Huron. The beach was lovely (even in winter) for a long relaxing walk. The hot tub worked great and was a nice way to stay warm while enjoying the winter scenery and clear night sky. There is a great little grocery store in town with nice wine selection and friendly staff. Can’t wait to go back :) — Emiley B., March 2019
Sitting in the hot tub watching the stars on a clear night with snow on the ground is as close to heaven as it gets. This place is “pure MICHIGAN” for sure. The fireplace makes it cozy, with all of the amenities of Home. I appreciate The Reeds for making this place available for a romantic weekend getaway. Oscoda is a great town and we found a great place for a nice dinner - Tait’s bill of fare. — Ryan R., Dec. 2017
This was our first time staying at the property and we will definitely be back! Being November we didn’t get to enjoy the beach but the property and the house are beautiful and immaculately kept, and very cozy. We enjoyed fires in the fireplace and the hot tub! Another bonus on cold nights was the heated mattress pad - genius! Such a cute place with everything we needed on-site. Hoping to return again during the warmer months! — Katie R., Nov. 2017
We have been traveling to Oscoda for many years and love staying on Lake Huron. We were lucky enough to find Tim's place and slide into a last minute cancellation. We loved the location and seclusion - while still be very close to a few general stores and town. We loved it! — Kevin M., Aug. 2016
The first day back to work after a vacation is always difficult. Four days of vacation is NOT enough. We stayed at Tim's cabin from a Monday and checked out on Friday. That just wasn't enough time. The cabin was cozy and very comfortable. Everything you needed was at your fingertips: from misc spices, heavy bath towels, to kitchen utensils, cast iron skillets and we even found the 'right' glasses for anything you choose to drink. The hot tub was a bonus that we took advantage of after we hiked all the stairs at the Lumberman's Memorial (what an experience - but I do recommend taking the challenge). The beach was great but we never had the opportunity to just sit and enjoy it. The deck is like a 3rd living room. I am sure that's where I'd be anytime the weather was good. The drive to town was doable and everything that you'd need you'd find easily. We had a wonderful and memorable visit at Tim's cabin. I'd love to visit again. Tim was easily reached by text and was wonderful to work with. Thanks again Tim for your hospitality. The cabin is a gem and one I'd live in year round if I could. — Mara N., Sept. 2016
Sunrises are spectacular, beach is beautiful, privacy abounds, star gazing is amazing, hot tub is relaxing, cottage is a combination of old and new, very well-kept. Kitchen was a little smaller than anticipated but worked out just fine. Bed was very comfortable. After unpacking it just felt like home! Couldn't have asked for more. Can't wait to return! — Steven N., Oct. 2015

About the Owner/Manager

I grew up enjoying the beautiful natural scenery of northern Michigan, in the town of Harrisville about 10 miles from the Lake Huron Beachfront Cottage. My husband Tim grew up in Howell, and learned an early love for the cabin life at his grandparents’ home on Lake Huron. We both love the area, and bought this property for the excellent quality of the beach. We love spending time on that beach — swimming, walking and sun bathing. In the evenings, we build a fire and gaze at the stars. If you live in a metropolitan area, you’ll be amazed at the night sky in this neck of the wood. And keep an eye out for the Northern Lights!
