The Mullet Lake Silver Beach Cottage is a beautiful four-bedroom home, with a big, beautiful sun porch just a few yards from the water. Open and airy with roomy living spaces and generous bedrooms, this 2,600-square-foot Michigan lakefront home is a throwback to a simpler time reminiscent of quiet days of fishing and think a la On Golden Pond.
The main level features a full kitchen with updated surfaces and appliances, a comfortable living room with sofas and armchairs gathered around a traditional stone fireplace, a secondary sitting room, a formal dining room with seating for eight guests and a TV lounge with a sofa, a card table for four and a full-wall picture-window view of Mullet Lake’s western shore. This spacious home is open year-round, offering a picture-perfect up-north vacation experience in all seasons.
Sleeping arrangements: Silver Beach Cottage offers one master bedroom on the first floor with a king-sized bed and an ensuite bathroom. The remaining three bedrooms are located on the second story and contain two twin-sized beds; one queen-sized bed; and one king-sized bed, respectively. In addition to the private sleeping quarters, there is a queen-sized sleeper sofa in the main living room and a full-sized sleeper on the sun porch.
Silver Beach Cottage is a cheerful sight from shore with its sunny yard, bright Adirondack lawn chairs, carefully maintained landscaping and vibrant flag waving in the lake breeze. The home has a large sun deck on the lake facing side and is rimmed by outdoor lounge chairs. A fire pit in the yard is great for summer bonfires. The home and lawn are shielded from the neighbors by a thick line of tall pines. The grassy property line ends in a rock boundary to the water, traversed by a raised walkway that connects to the private dock. Guests are provided with mooring buoys to protect docked boats. A private drive near the front entrance offers off-street parking for vehicles and trailers.
This waterfront cottage is not only privy to myriad lake-based entertainments — it is also located very near to an extensive nature trail system, which is open year-round for hiking, biking, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. Mullett Lake is an excellent fishery, with game species including lake trout, northern pike, perch, walleye and bass. Combined with the summer sports — jet skiing, kayaking, parasailing, swimming, water tubing and wind-surfing — and excellent ice fishing, this spot is truly a year-round vacation paradise. This vacation rental is just a short drive from unique restaurants and fun local shopping in Cheboygan, MI, not to mention a number of seasonal festivals.
Cheboygan hosts annual events such as the Waterways festival in July, with a parade, a boat show, concerts and races, and of course a walking selection of local cuisine. Cheboygan is also home to the county fair in August, and dozens of other competitions, shows and events in all types of weather.

My family and I spent two weeks here this year and are eager to return. The house is roomy, comfortable, very well equipped and was beautifully clean when we arrived. Northern Lakes Property Management One, the agency that handled our rental, was especially helpful! The agents came within the hour when I had a problem with the lock and were extremely pleasant to work with. When I called at night because we had a problem with the air conditioning, they had a repairman there the next morning and it was soon working again. I agree with Julie N that the lack of a sandy beach in front of the cottage is a drawback, but there are sandy beaches close by, so it's not a significant problem. I would recommend both the cottage and Northern Lakes Property Management to people of all ages, including families with children. Ssb, July 2016
Great location, beautiful home! We rent a cottage every summer for one week. Mullett lake is my favorite lake and this is by far the best house we have rented. Spacious, clean, nice furnishings, comfortable beds and great views! It is very obvious this home has been cared for! There were only two drawbacks to the house, but neither things are deal breakers: 1) There is not a sandy beach area. My niece and nephew are 4 and 2 1/2, so there wasn't a place for them to play in the water at the cottage. We did find sandy beaches at both Mullett Lake and Burt Lake where they were able to play. 2) Boats have to tie up to a mooring buoy rather than use the dock, due to the waves. After seeing the waves, it is completely understandable! It was just a pain to have to walk in the water to get the boat. Again, as the house and location are great, it should not be a deal breaker for anyone! Next time we stay on Mullett Lake, this house will definitely be at the top of our list! Julie, July 2015
We have been vacationing on Mullet Lake for over 20 years and were in need a of a larger cottage to accommodate our growing family. This beautiful home was definitely the perfect choice! We enjoyed sitting on the beautiful deck overlooking the lake while enjoying coffee or tea in the morning or a cocktail in the evening. There is a beautifully maintained large yard for the kids to play and a fire pit where we enjoyed bonfires in the evening. The home is exceptionally clean and very spacious. My husband and I were in the master suite, with full bathroom on the first floor, while our son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren had the upstairs for themselves which included 3 bedrooms and a full bath. Plenty of room for everyone! The cottage has everything you need, including a great selection of books. We enjoyed cooking at the cottage most nights, but also had great dining experiences at Vivio's in Indian River - the best Pizza anywhere - and a special night out at The Douglas Lake Bar. Though Cheboygan is close by for groceries we enjoy shopping at Ken's in Indian River. We also had breakfast a few mornings at our favorite spot, Cafe Noka in nearby Topinabee. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will definitely be back next summer. We also hope to possibly rent this home for a long weekend in the winter, if possible. Thank you for giving our family a wonderful vacation! Nancy, July 2014
We were so excited to be staying at a home on Mullett Lake and we were NOT disappointed! The home itself is beautiful and roomy. It has all the comforts of home in a fantastic vacation setting! We enjoyed the gorgeous views from the sun porch, the crystal-clear water of the Lake and sunning on the dock. I couldn't help but think how wonderful this home would be, not only for smaller groups like mine, but for family reunions or multi-family vacations. There really is something for everyone! The home is close enough to Petoskey, Mackinaw and other points of interest to provide for plenty of exciting road trips! We also enjoyed the charming downtown of Cheboygan. Be sure to stop by Alice's Restaurant! Our waiter kept us laughing with his wonderful sense of humor! Oh, and the Perch was delicious. We will definitely be returning and will recommend this perfect lake house to our family and friends Jeanne, June 2014
